Rev. Maddie Sifantus, Minister

On the first Sunday of January 2009, we welcomed Rev. Maddie Sifantus as the new Minister of our congregation. Rev. Sifantus has most recently been a community minister affiliated with the First Parish in Wayland, MA and was, until this past summer, the longtime director of a community elder chorus, The Golden Tones, which she founded in 1988. We are especially pleased to have Rev. Sifantus as our minister because, along with her preaching and leadership skills, she is also a professional singer and choral director.  For a church so dedicated to music, she is an excellent match, indeed.

Religious Education...
A Lifelong Journey
We are proud to offer an exciting and diverse church school program for children starting at age three. Children are placed in age appropriate groups on Sunday mornings and explore religious and social issues in a supportive and fun environment. Children also attend the Sunday Service periodically, taking part in the service through stories and song. We currently have five classes, which meet concurrently with the adult service at 10:30 AM. A nursery is available downstairs for children under three. Though the children are always welcome in upstairs church, the R.E. program has its own worship service downstairs. Several times a year the children sit in for all or part of the upstairs service. Many adult members of the congregation contribute by teaching classes or helping with special programs.

The Adult Religious Education program provides information on Unitarian Universalism as well as other religions and issues. Classes are scheduled during the year for members and non-members which may include films, guest speakers, and informal discussion groups.

Music for - and by - Everyone
From simple folk tunes and classic hymns, to ambitious choral and a cappella pieces, as well as some great gospel tunes, our adult choir has fun providing a variety of music each Sunday. Choir practice happens from 9:30-10:15 am Sunday mornings during the church year and on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 pm.
No weekly (or even Sunday) commitments necessary! A good sense of humor and a love of music is all that you need to join us.

Singers and instrumentalists of all ages, from within and beyond our congregation, are cordially invited to share their music with us during a Sunday service. Click HERE for more information.
